Conwy Adventure Leisure says park is on schedule

7 January, 2015 – The world’s first commercial inland surfing facility is on track for completion this summer with the workforce on site set to double this month. Surf Snowdonia will bring a £7.7m wave garden with a lagoon, water slide, wakeboard lake, lodges, restaurant, to Dolgarrog, Conwy Valley, in a project that will cement the region’s growing reputation as the UK’s adventure capital.

This week the firm behind the scheme, Conwy Adventure Leisure, said that everything was on schedule for opening in July with work set to step up as construction starts on the facility buildings this month.

Recruitment had also now started for the 60 jobs that will be on the former aluminium works site once the wave garden is operational. Steve Davies, Conwy Adventure Leisure managing director, said: “We are on schedule and we are on track to open in July this year.

“We don’t underestimate the amount of work that we still have to do but we feel we are looking ahead at any emerging problem so it can’t catch us out. “We have done our homework, we knew the ground here was poor that is why we have used the equivalent of 10km of piles in the ground. We knew the weather in this part of Wales would be wet over winter so we anticipated it.”
