23rd February 2012, Kuta-Bali:  Quiksilver SEA invites you to join Indonesia’s Dede Suryana for an insider’s experience at the Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro surf competitions that will take place from the 25th of February to the 7th of March at the legendary Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast of Australia.

As the first event of the 2012 ASP’s “Dream Tour” season, this year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro at arguably the premiere righthand point break on the planet, and of special significance is the fact that Quiksilver has their Best of Boardriding athletic team in attendance, composed of Great Wall of China skater Danny Way, Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Torah Bright, 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, 4-time women’s world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore, 12-time skating world champion and pioneer Tony Hawk, and 2-time runner up ASP women’s surfing champion Sally Fitzgibbons.

The entire surfing world will be focused on this iconic stretch of the Gold Coast during the event, and Quiksilver SEA has sent their top team rider and WQS pro surfer Dede Suryana “Down Under” to give Indonesian surfing fans an insiders look at what it’s like to both compete and attend the prestigious and exciting professional surfing event.

“This is super exciting for me and I’m especially stoked to be able to go to the Quiksilver Pro this year as both a reporter and to compete, ” said Dede as he explains further.  “I always have my camera with me when I go to surf comps, to take a few shots and get some clips to share with my friends, which is where this idea came from.  It’s going to be great knowing that each day I’ll be doing so many different things in and around the comp and sharing them with my fans back home in Indonesia. Sometimes when I try to explain what my life as a pro surfer is like they don’t really understand it all, so this way they get to see it for themselves.  It’s a great idea, to be at the Quiksilver Pro as both a pro surfer and as part of the media team!”

Dede will be posting daily video updates on Facebook at www.facebook.com/QUIKSILVER.INDONESIA and www.facebook.com/roxy.id as well as on www.balibelly.tv and www.royalvideomagazine.com as he does all kinds of cool things like preparing and competing in the Trials event, hopefully getting into the main event, going to a local theme park with Quiksilver team mates Ry Craike and Matt Banting, and cruising around Coolangatta and meeting up with Roxy girl Sally Fitzgibbon for lunch.  Check out the first clip from Dede at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13pInhpfRDA

He’ll also be accompanied by Quiksilver Indonesia Marketing Manager Tipi Jabrik and Indonesian junior team rider 13 year old Rio Waida, and together they will also hang out with event organizer and contest director Jake Paterson to see how the event is put together and run, go free surfing with the Young Guns team, interview surf fans down on the beach, and maybe even get to chat with world champion’s Kelly Slater and Stephanie Gilmore during the 10 day event.

Quiksilver Marketing Executive for SEA Holly Monkman wants everybody to feel like they are a part of the event, saying, “We want to involve more people, especially those in Indonesia in this huge event this year, so giving them an insider’s perspective with Dede, being able to view the action on-line with the webcast, and being able to wear the event merchandise from our stores brings it into their everyday life and makes them feel closer and more involved.  We are surfers and a surfing company, and have a lot fun, so I’m sure that heaps of people will tune in to follow Dede during the event and see all the cool things that go on around the Gold Coast, and have lots of fun as well.”
