Guam’s second water fatality in a week’s time, as surfer drowns
6 March, 2015 – Guam – The Pacific News Center reported today that a man has died while surfing at Guam’s popular Talofofo Bay. This marks the second water-related death in the last week. (A Korean tourist’s body was recovered after they drowned during a deep water diving accident near Blue Hole.)
According the the report, a 911 distress call came in at 3:59 yesterday afternoon. Authorities said the man had been pulled from the water when paramedics arrived. The man was taken to a nearby Naval hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:01. Witnesses said the man had been surfing.
A medcal examiner is expected to have results from an autopsy by Monday.
